How take-home pay in South Korea is calculated
South Korean payroll deducts the four social insurances — national pension, health, long-term care and employment — about 9.71% of gross together in 2026. Both main rates rose that year: the national pension from 9% to 9.5% (employee half 4.75%) and health insurance from 7.09% to 7.19% (employee half 3.595%), with employment insurance steady at 0.9%.
National income tax applies on brackets from 6% to 45% after the earned-income deduction, and a local income tax of 10% of the national tax is added. This simplified model applies both. Estimate, not tax advice.
