How take-home pay in Canada is calculated

Canadian payroll charges federal tax on brackets from 14.5% to 33%, reduced by the basic personal amount, plus a provincial tax that differs by province (Ontario, Quebec, BC, Alberta).

CPP is 5.95% between the floor and ceiling, with an extra CPP2 above, and EI is 1.64% up to its ceiling. Pick your province from the dropdown; because this simplified model applies one flat provincial rate to a schedule that is really progressive, the options are representative rather than exact. Estimate, not tax advice.
