How 自動車税 in Japan is calculated
Japan's automobile tax (jidosha-zei) is based on engine displacement, from 25,000 JPY for a sub-1.0L car up to 110,000 JPY for the largest engines. Kei (light) cars pay a flat 10,800 JPY.
