Polish holiday entitlement calculator (urlop wypoczynkowy)
Article 154 § 1 of the Kodeks pracy gives 20 days of paid leave to an employee with less than ten years of employment and 26 days at ten years or more. Part time is pro-rated by working time and a partial day is rounded up, and § 3 caps the result at the full-time figure.

How urlop wypoczynkowy in Poland is calculated
*"Wymiar urlopu wynosi: 1) 20 dni – jeżeli pracownik jest zatrudniony krócej niż 10 lat; 2) 26 dni – jeżeli pracownik jest zatrudniony co najmniej 10 lat."* A step, not a slide: there is nothing between 20 and 26, and nine years and eleven months is still 20.
**The ten years are not ten years with this employer.** Art. 154¹ § 1 counts previous employment *"bez względu na przerwy w zatrudnieniu oraz sposób ustania stosunku pracy"* — regardless of breaks and of how each job ended — and art. 155 adds a notional period for completed education, up to eight years for a university degree. Someone three years into their first job after a master’s is already on the 26-day band, which is the single thing people most often get wrong about Polish leave.
**Poland is the second country in this family whose statute sets its own rounding, and it rounds up.** Art. 154 § 2: part time is pro-rated by wymiar czasu pracy, and *"niepełny dzień urlopu zaokrągla się w górę do pełnego dnia."* So 3/4 etatu on the 26-day band is 19.5 days, which is **20**. Then § 3 caps the result at § 1’s figure, so no combination of inputs can produce more than 26.
**And the figures come from the consolidated text, which took some doing.** The act’s own ELI identifier serves the Kodeks pracy *as enacted in 1974* — a scan stating 14, 17, 20 and 26 days after one, three, six and ten years of work, superseded twice over. The current consolidation is published as a separate item, Dz. U. 2026 poz. 1245, which carries its own amendment chain and the words *"z uwzględnieniem stanu prawnego na dzień 27 sierpnia 2026 r."*

Frequently asked questions
Ile dni urlopu mi się należy?
20 dni, jeżeli jesteś zatrudniony krócej niż 10 lat, albo 26 dni, jeżeli co najmniej 10 lat — art. 154 § 1 Kodeksu pracy.
How is leave calculated for part time?
Proportionally to working time, and a partial day is rounded UP to a whole day — art. 154 § 2. Three-quarters of full time on the 26-day band is 19.5, which becomes 20.
Can the pro-rated figure exceed the full-time one?
No. Art. 154 § 3 caps the result at the figure in § 1, which is why this calculator never reports more than 26 days.
