How in-hand salary in India is calculated
Under India's FY2025-26 new tax regime, the calculator starts from your annual cost-to-company (CTC). Employee provident fund is 12% of basic pay (a share of CTC you choose), and a 75,000 INR standard deduction comes off before tax.
The new-regime slabs run 0% up to 4 lakh, then 5/10/15/20/25/30% across successive 4-lakh bands. The §87A rebate zeroes the tax entirely for taxable income up to 12 lakh, with marginal relief just above it, and a 4% health-and-education cess is added on top.
Because most of the structure hinges on how CTC splits into basic pay, the calculator exposes the basic percentage — the single biggest lever on take-home. Old-regime deductions (HRA, 80C) are a planned addition. Estimate, not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions
What is the in-hand salary for ₹8 LPA CTC?
On an 8 lakh CTC with basic at 40%, employee PF is 12% of basic and taxable income after the standard deduction stays within the §87A rebate, so income tax is zero. The calculator shows the resulting monthly in-hand.
How does the §87A rebate work in the new regime?
For FY2025-26 the rebate reduces tax to zero when taxable income is 12 lakh or below, with marginal relief for incomes just above the threshold. Enter a higher CTC to see tax appear.
Is this the new or old tax regime?
This page models the new regime, the default from FY2025-26, with its 0-30% slabs and 75,000 INR standard deduction. The old regime with HRA and 80C deductions is a planned variant.
