Luxembourg holiday entitlement calculator (congé annuel)
The legal annual leave is 26 jours ouvrables a year, regardless of the employee’s age, and it accrues at one twelfth per full month worked in the first year. A new employee must generally complete three months of uninterrupted work with the same employer before the accrued leave can be taken.

How congé annuel in Luxembourg is calculated
*"La durée du congé annuel est fixée à 26 jours ouvrables par année, indépendamment de l’âge du salarié."* Twenty-six working days is the **second-highest real entitlement in this comparison**, behind only the UK’s 28 and ahead of Finland, Sweden, Austria and Argentina at 25.
**The ITM records how it got there, which is worth quoting because it dates the figure.** *"L’article L. 233-4 du Code du travail prévoit une augmentation du congé payé légal minimum de 25 à 26 jours par année"* — in force since 1 January 2019. A page still reporting 25 is reporting pre-2019 law.
**And it is age-blind, which is unusual here.** Switzerland gives a fifth week below 20, Slovakia a fifth from 33, Norway more from 60, Türkiye a floor at both ends. Luxembourg says *"indépendamment de l’âge"* in the same sentence as the number.
**The three-month rule is about taking the leave, not earning it.** *"Le salarié ne peut prendre son congé qu’après 3 mois de travail ininterrompu auprès d’un même employeur"*, and it applies to fixed-term and permanent contracts alike. Meanwhile *"le congé de la première année est dû à raison d’un douzième par mois de travail entier"* — so the days accrue from month one and simply cannot be used yet.
**Everyone is covered, apprentices included, whatever their schedule.** The ITM publishes a separate table of the leave HOURS owed to part-time employees, and parental leave suspends accrual when taken full-time while being pro-rated against weekly hours when part-time. Maternity leave does not suspend it.

Frequently asked questions
Combien de jours de congé annuel au Luxembourg ?
Vingt-six jours ouvrables par année, indépendamment de l’âge du salarié. Le congé de la première année est dû à raison d’un douzième par mois de travail entier.
When can I actually take my leave?
In principle after three months of uninterrupted work with the same employer. The days accrue from your first full month — the three-month rule governs when they can be used, not whether they exist.
Le congé dépend-il de l’âge ?
Non. Depuis le 1er janvier 2019 la durée minimale est de 26 jours ouvrables pour tous, l’article L. 233-4 du Code du travail ayant porté le minimum de 25 à 26 jours.
Do part-time employees get 26 days?
The entitlement covers every employee whatever their schedule, but for part-timers it is expressed in hours — the Inspection du travail et des mines publishes a table of the leave hours owed, which this calculator does not reproduce.
