# Calcul Congés Payés 2026 — French Statutory Leave

Source page: https://valem.run/calculators/france/holiday-entitlement

A French employee accrues 2,5 jours ouvrables of paid leave for each month of effective work, up to 30 jours ouvrables — five weeks — over a reference period running from 1 June to 31 May, and a part-time employee gets the same number as a full-timer.

**Tax year:** 2026

## How it is calculated

Article L3141-3 of the Code du travail: *"Le salarié a droit à un congé de deux jours et demi ouvrables par mois de travail effectif chez le même employeur"*, and *"La durée totale du congé exigible ne peut excéder trente jours ouvrables."* Thirty jours ouvrables is five weeks — a jour ouvrable is Monday to Saturday — which makes the French minimum the most generous of the three large European systems.

**The accrual is monthly, so a part-year figure steps rather than slides.** It is 2,5 per month worked, not a daily slice of the year, and when the result is not a whole number it is rounded **up**: service-public.gouv.fr gives the example itself — five months worked is 2,5 × 5 = 12,5, *"arrondi à 13 jours ouvrables"*. A calculator that pro-rates by days and rounds to the nearest half will be a day short for most of the year.

**And the page asks nothing about your working week, deliberately.** *"Le salarié travaillant à temps partiel a droit à la même durée de congés payés qu’un salarié travaillant à temps plein."* A French part-timer gets the same 30 jours ouvrables, not a proportional share — the reduction falls on the pay, not on the days. Every other page in this family multiplies by your days per week; doing that here would tell someone working three days a week that they get 15 days when the law gives them 30. The reference period runs 1 June to 31 May unless a collective agreement moves it.

## Worked example

With Last day worked in it of 2026-05-31, this model computes Days Entitled of 30.

## What this page claims

The Valem engine reproduces this model's formula through 7 self-test cases. That shows internal consistency, not that the formula matches current law; the cited sources are the evidence for that. Estimate, not tax advice.
